Sunlight filtered into the warriors' den as the sun rose higher into the sky. A lithe gray tabby tom blinked his eyes open and yawned. He had been up late last night on an evening patrol, and therefore hadn't had that much time to rest before hand because of a hunting patrol directly before it. Although the tom was fairly close to retiring to become an elder, he surely wasn't letting his warrior duties slip away from him.
He rose and stretched, his tabby stripes rippling as his fur did on his lean muscles. He stood completely and shook little bits of moss from his fur before exiting the den. He gave a short look towards the fresh-kill pile before padding over to it quickly. He picked up a larger mouse, went back to a space near the warriors' den, laid down, and began to eat his morning meal.

She hadn´t gone out hunting yesterday, as usual, but she didn´t mind. Inkpool woke just as Eveningrain left the den and stood, letting her silvery'green eyes adjust to the different amount of lighting.
Standing, she stretched briefly and sighed at the tickling of movement within her stomach. Apprehension was first in her mind as the daunting task of telling Eveningrain loomed before her, like a large tree that she had to climb. She padded out of the den, her belly a little more swollen than usual, but with her black pelt it was easy to hide.
She rubbed up against Eveningrain, purring at the sight of him, meowing softly, "Morning, love." She sat down close next to him, worry glittering in her eyes, wondering what he would say...surely they were far past the acceptable age, and it´s not as if it had been planned...But even older cats indulged in passion, surely everyone knew that....

Eveningrain turned his warm gaze towards his mate. "Good morning," he responded with a purr. He watched her for a moment, concentrating on her features. Something seemed...well, off, but he couldn't quite figure out what it was.
The tom couldn't help but to smile as he remembered their first day together. They had ventured towards the water in the old territory and talked endlessly until the sun was setting, at which point they had decided to turn back. From that day on, he had known that they were meant to be. Despite his friendly demeanor, he still couldn't talk to any cat like he could talk to her.
This also gave him the sense of knowing when something was wrong with her, and something was definitely wrong.
"What's the matter, Inkpool?" he mewed with a growing worry. "You aren't sick, are you? No problems, I hope?"

Inkpool instantly felt bad for worrying him. It´s not as if she were exactly transparent with her emotions, or what she was thinking, it´s just that with Eveningrain it was impossible to hide anything.
Memories flitted across her brain, absent-mindedly, of the first time she had given him such news. Would he be just as ecstatic and proud, strutting like a rooster around the camp? Probably not. She took a deep breath, steeling herself for what was to come.
"No, not sick, not exactly..." She hurried to calm him, raising her head and nuzzling him gently.
"It´s just that I´m...well, we´re....Oh, phooey, I´m just going to say it. I´m having kits." She lowered her head, not wanting to look him in the eyes for fear that he was angry with her, or something...she didn´t know exactly what she was expecting him to do.

Eveningrain moved back a couple of paw steps so he could look at his mate. He just stared at her for a moment, his eyes holding an unreadable emotion.
He couldn't do anything but stare for a moment. She had been his love since...well, since he was a much younger warrior. He hadn't ever felt something for any other cat like he felt for her, from that point in his life to now.
Emotions coursed through his body, but didn't show on his face until he finally spoke.
"Our kits, again?" He continued to stare at her until he placed his tail on her paw and a grin spread across his face. "Oh, Inkpool, I'm so glad!" he mewed joyfully. Then he noticed completely how dismal she was acting. "My love...what's the matter? Kits aren't anything to get down about!"

He was happy- joy coursed through her veins at the thought of making him happy once more, with kits. Worry had been nagging her all night that he would be angry for some reason; now that she had finally told him, it seemed ridiculous that he would be anything but happy.
She sighed with obvious relief and smiled, looking up at him and purring softly. Almost hesitatingly, softly, Inkpool mewed, "I don´t know...I was just really worried that you wouldn´t be happy with me for some reason.¨ He had always been able to read her uncommonly well, and so she didn´t even try to hide the fact that she thought he would be mad.
"I thought you would be mad with me, or something. I don´t even know why..." She trailed off, not having anything with which to really finish this statement, and merely buried her face in his shoulder, pressing herself close into him, reveling in his strength and warmth. This was one of the things she hated most about being a Queen- her emotions always went haywire.
"I love you." She murmured softly into his neck, nuzzling him fondly and stroking his back with her tail, appreciative of his joy and his love. Another thought struck her- what would her first litter think, Whiteshadow, Eclipsedmoon and Wolfstep? She shoved the question aside, wanting to stay here with Eveningrain, and think about her previous kits when she had to, which was definately not now. Right now was for her and Eveningrain, no one else.

Eveningrain couldn't help but to let out a tremendous purr. He watched their fur merge, black on tabby. It was lovely, and he knew it. Nothing moved him more than she did. He adored their kits, yes, but without her, they wouldn't be here. She was the source of his joy, happiness, and best emotions. She gave him his strength, and he reveled in that.
"I could never be mad at you," he whispered. He licked her forehead gingerly. "I love you, too. Nothing can ever change that. Kits merely make the love grow, my dear." He grinned. "They're just like little ones of us," he semi-joked. "Everything will be okay. Besides, I'm thinking TealClan could use some more excellent warriors like Wolfstep, Whiteshadow, and Eclipsedmoon, don't you?" he added with a little chuckle.
