It was early, far too early to really begin the day, though Littlefeather caught sight of light on the horizon. She felt dew dampen her fur as she slipped out of the medicine den. She still couldn't bring herself to call it her den... She chuckled at her own shyness.
Littlefeather took a deep breath of the fresh morning air. No one was awake yet as far as she could tell. She considered going out for herbs while there was still dew on them; it was always a delight to her. Deciding against it, though, she paused in the middle of camp to clean a paw.
It was starting out a lovely day, and Littlefeather could tell already it would be a great day to go out for a hunt or to train. Perhaps she'd tag along with a warrior to get her herbs, just in case. For now, she would enjoy a good breakfast and spend some time in camp.
Littlefeather quietly stepped over to the fresh-kill pile, selecting a small vole and sitting in the thin sunlight that crept over the camp walls.

The sun must have just been coming up. He opened his dark brown eyes and blinked softly. No sunlight had lightened the space under the lip of the great boulder where all TealClan warriors and apprentices slept. His dark gray ears tilted to the side, listening for any sound that would indicate that his clanmates were up and functioning. He let his eyes slide shut again, catching no noise just yet. He had been having this strange dream... He had walked into the nursery and had seen a new litter of six or seven kits. All of them had been tabbies. Now he was having trouble remembering what the queen had looked like...
There was a sudden noise and Wolfstep jumped so high he hit his head on the rock surface a few mouse-lengths above his head. Cringing in pain and cursing quietly, he pulled himself from his nest, shaking away the spots in his vision. A few quick blinks later, he saw that the noise had come from Littlefeather, TealClan's new medicine cat. Frowning slightly, he stretched out his legs behind him. As he stood once more, the long-haired warrior paused to wonder what that day might have in store. greenleaf was full and strong; perhaps a nice dip in the lake... He hoped, whatever it was he ended up doing, that Sunstreak would join him...
Padding lightly forward, the young warrior greeted the medicine cat with a small, curt nod. He was still somewhat annoyed that whatever noise she'd made had made him ram his head into a ceiling of pure stone... But he didn't say that aloud. Instead, he selected a plump mouse and glanced back towards the stone to see if Sunstreak might come soon to share it with him. "Morning," he made himself say to the medicine cat, not seeing the ginger warrioress at all yet.

Sunstreak stirred as soon as the sunlight steaked into their den and bounced on her pelt, bringing out its reddish highlights. She yawned, exposing pearly white teeth and a small pink tongue. Closing her mouth, she lifted herself from the stone floor, stretching, and glancing out through the opening. It didn't sound as many were up now, but she had always been an early bird.
The ginger warrior padded out of the den and to the center of camp. It was empty except for the figures of their newest medicine cat, Littlefeather, and what Sunstreak recognized to be the long gray pelt of Wolfstep. She made her way over towards them, wondering exactly how to act in front of this young warrior. It was less akward between them now that they were both warriors, but half the time she didn't know if Wolfstep wanted her around or not.
"How are you this morning Littlefeather?" she asked, sitting down besides Wolfstep and curling her ginger tail around her hindlegs. "And you too Wolfstep? It's a gorgeous day today," she purred, her rich brown eyes bright with enthusiasm.

Littlefeather looked up sharply, giving her usual sweet smile. "Good morning," she paused. This was where that great memory of her's would come in. "Good morning, Wolfstep," she finished, closing her sunset-colored eyes momentarily.
She finished her vole just moments before Sunstreak appeared, giving a smile to the she-cat in greeting. "Good morning, Sunstreak. I'm good, but I might need to look for some herbs later," she replied quietly. She licked her whiskers quickly, also pausing to rub a dark brown paw over her head. "And you?" she meowed finally, all paws now resting on the ground.

He sensed rather than heard movement around him, and wearily opened his green eyes. Why...why were others awake? It was too early, far too early. Then again, Whiteshadow thought to himself, he was often up this early, just stretching and enjoying the sun.
He stood, stretching his lanky rather than muscled body, his black tail twitching behind him. He spotted his brother, Littlefeather and Sunstreak not far off and padded over to them, a happy smile on his pleasant face.
"Good mornin'" He meowed to everyone, his ears twitching as he licked his chops absently, trying to clean sleep-grit away.

Frowning down at his mouse, Wolfstep didn't hear Sunstreak get up until she had nearly reached him. Did she want to talk to him? Maybe she'd ask him if he'd like to go hunting with her. He'd agree, of course, trying not to act overly-excited. He was so lost in his daydream that he jumped lightly at the sound of her sitting down next to him Now that he was back to reality, he found it very unlikely that she'd invite him to do anything with her... He couldn't help but note how she spoke to Littlefeather first. It's respectful. he told himself, but it didn't throw off his self-pity.
As usual, the young warrior felt overly awkward around her. He felt like the scar on the side of his face were on fire. He shuffled his pale gray paws, staring down at them. Wolfstep still hadn't fully recovered. Sure, physically he was completely healthy, his coat thick and soft, his muscles strong and powerful. But mentally... emotionally... The young tom was still recovering from the badger attack. Had nothing really happened, it would have merely been a nice story to brag to his brothers about. But no, the badger couldn't have just scratched the heck out of him and left him bleeding... No, a warrior had to have been near enough to hear his yowls. Not for the first time, Wolfstep found himself wishing he'd kept his mouth firmly clamped shut on that fateful day. Poppytail wouldn't have heard a thing, and she certainly wouldn't have come running to help. Best of all, Wolfstep wouldn't have woken up days later to the news that a second cat had died for him. After being told, the tom had remained silent for nearly two moons. He had recovered and quickly resumed his training, catching up with his siblings. You see, training so hard it left him exhausted every night kept his mind off Poppytail and the attack. When he'd only barely started talking again (and, even then, only a few words a day), he'd been made a warrior alongside his siblings. Over the last two moons, Wolfstep had started speaking more, little by little. He still wasn't so long-winded as Nightrain or Cloudpaw/??. All this ran through the tom's head every time the ginger warrioress was near. He was ever-aware of his new imperfections, hating himself for the fact that he couldn't be the perfect, powerful tom that Sunstreak deserved. No wonder she didn't notice him.
Blinking lightly, he muttered a soft "Hullo," still not looking up from his paws. The sound of another set of paws reached him, and he glanced quickly up to see Whiteshadow joining them. Wolfstep's dark brother looked very little like him. Whiteshadow, despite his name, was a pitch black cat, with their mother's lovely eyes. He was taller than Wolfstep, and certainly thinner. The gray tabby had always been shaped more like their father than Whiteshadow. Staring blankly off, the medicine cat's words suddenly making sense in his brain. He doubted outgoing Sunstreak would care to join the shy medicine cat on a boring patrol for herbs, so Wolfstep forced himself to say, "I'll go with you, Littlefeather."

Sunstreak frowned slightly, hoping that maybe Wolfstep would want to go hunting with her. After all, they were both warriors now, at the same level, and they were free to hunt and patrol together. Sunstreak missed the carefree time they used to have together, every since this whole move, they had been awkward ever since. She had been meaning to ask him if he wanted to go hunting, but he seemed to have something else in mind. Littlefeather…she didn’t know Wolfstep would take that much of an interest in her. She willed her shoulders to relax, after all, Littlefeather was the medicine cat and nothing else. But it just seemed like another time he was trying to get away from her.
She knew that he must be suffering from Poppytail’s death. To her, Wolfstep seemed more sensitive then the other toms. And he had always been the quiet one of his siblings. But she just wished that he could talk to her, but he didn’t seem to have much of a desire to rekindle their friendship.
Swishing her tail in thought, her brown eyes glanced at Whiteshadow. The prey pile did needed to filled and they were the only other ones up. “Well Whiteshadow, do you want to go hunting?” she asked. It was amazing that they were brothers, they looked so incredibly different. “It seems like we are the only other ones up,” she said with a small laugh, glancing around the almost empty clan.
She turned to Wolfstep and Littlefeather. “Maybe we could all go hunting and help Littlefeather,” she suggested, almost tensing for Wolfstep to refuse. “We could probably get more accomplished,” she added, running a paw down her ginger coat, smoothing it slightly anxiously. Who was she kidding? Wolfstep probably had some slender dainty doe-eyed she-cat in mind. She shouldn’t expect him to waste his time with stocky gingered Sunstreak. She waited for the answer, glancing around the group. “I doubt Aquastar will get mad at us for organizing this.”

Littlefeather looked to Wolfstep almost in disbelief. After a few blinks, she managed to smile again. "Okay. Thank you, Wolfstep," she said politely. She quietly greeted Whiteshadow, looking to Sunstreak as the she-cat spoke.
Now Littlefeather really felt strange. Three warriors... It was definitely a first. She usually went alone or with an apprentice eager to leave camp. She hadn't hunted in a while, either, perhaps she could help with that...
"Yes, I'm sure Aquastar would be fine with that," she agreed quietly. She suddenly felt shy. "O-Or if you'd rather just go without me..." she added timidly, deciding not to finish. She gave her usual smile again, though she did feel quite awkward.

Wolfstep felt the sudden urge to run away and hide. Sunstreak wanted to go hunting with Whiteshadow! Instead of feeling any sort of anger or jealousy towards his brother, the gray tabby tom merely felt overwhelmed with a sense of self-pity, an emotion that was almost constantly on his mind. Why wouldn't she want to go hunting with Whiteshadow? The black tom didn't have any darkening scars, and he certainly didn't have two cats' deaths hanging over him. For a brief moment, the fluffy tabby tom wanted nothing more than to flee and yowl his sorrows aloud.
But the ginger she-cat spoke again. Maybe we could all go hunting and help Littlefeather. His previous thoughts were forgotten in a heartbeat. That would be wonderful! It wouldn't be so awkward as just the two of them, and Wolfstep would still be able to enjoy Sunstreak's company. Plus, they'd have something to focus on, which would help him keep his mind off her... He didn't even mind that Whiteshadow would be joining them.
"I'd like that," he said without realizing it. He was staring right at her! Blushing beneath his fur, the tabby quickly adverted his eyes and shuffled his paws. Why had he said that aloud?! Still, part of him was relieved. Perhaps if he actually talked to Sunstreak, she might like him a bit more... It was a wild shot, but it might work.
))He's so cute! Luff these two!((

Sunstreak's rich brown eyes glanced towards Littlefeather. "If you don't want us to join you, that's ok," she mewed. "But I think we would get more accomplished just going in one trip," she commented, shrugging her shoulders slightly.
Her eyes turned to Wolfstep, slightly surprised that he had spoken his opinion. Normally it seemed like he ran whenever she was around. But perhaps he actually enjoyed her company...the thought made Sunstreak glow inside and she smiled towards him. "Well then lets go! Don't worry about it Littlefeather," she added. "It would be better anyway to have a few warriors, with the druids and all that. We wouldn't want you to go out alone anymore," she commented, brushing off her coat with a ginger paw.
She glanced once again at Wolfstep. He seemed kinda anxious, shuffling his paws and all that. She lightly touched his shoulder with the tip of her tail. "Are you ready to go?" she asked, tilting her head curiously.

Littlefeather swallowed that terrible knot of shyness, nodding quickly. "Yes, of course," she replied. Sunstreak's comment made her think for a moment though. Going alone all the time like she did... If anything happened, her Clan would be left without a medicine cat. Perhaps she could take on an apprentice...
Coming back from her thoughts, she quickly said, "Yes, I'm ready," without realizing that Sunstreak was talking to Wolfstep. She fell silent, feeling her face warm with embarassment. She really had to get over this shyness issue. Really, she knew her fellow TealClanners weren't going to bite... Even so, that knot began to form again in her throat.
"Oh, let me go see what I need!" she added quietly, scurrying away into her den. Once inside, she stopped and breathed for a moment. Way to go... she told herself. She'd be lucky if any of these warriors wanted to speak with her again, let alone go out on a patrol... Littlefeather really didn't need to see what herbs she was low on, so once she was calm again, she returned to where the others were. "Okay, now I'm ready," she said in her soft voice, smiling.

))I'm so sorry guys!!! Life has been so nuts...I'm going to go on a DC binge tonight...MWAHAHAHAHA!!!((
Whiteshadow had opened his mouth to speak, but things happened to fast for the lithe warrior to easily keep up. That's what he got for speaking to this cluster of cats so early in the morning.
He smiled, his emerald green eyes twinkling as he meowed in his light voice,
"I think that this is the best plan we've come up with so far." His tail-tip twitched, his claws digging into the soft earth. He stood, stretching his limbs and asking,
"Shall we?" With a friendly twitch of his ears, Whiteshadow led the way to the camp exit.

He could feel her gaze on him. It seemed to burn into his fur, as if setting him afire. He blushed beneath his fur, feeling the blood pound in his ears. He glanced up at her, just in time to catch her smile. A smile almost overcame his face, but he held it back, trying to hide it. One ear tilted uncomfortably back, and he dropped his eyes down to his paws.
"Are you ready to go?"
Once more he felt his skin burn beneath his fur, because he knew at once the question was directed at him. Flustered, he wondered what to say... Just say yes, you dolt! He blinked slightly and opened his mouth to speak. Perhaps he'd say something smooth like, "If you're ready, then I am." But he didn't say anything. Someone beat him to it. The warrior's mouth fell shut. Had Sunstreak been speaking to someone else? He felt sure she hadn't...
"Yes, I'm ready."
His dark brown eyes darted over to Littlefeather, glad that for once it wasn't him messing up. All the same, he felt a small twinge of pity for the shy medicine cat. She certainly didn't speak much... He hoped once they got out into the forest things wouldn't be so awkward. Even Whiteshadow had noticed it, Wolfstep felt suddenly sure. Great, I'm making a fool of myself in front of my brother... He's sure to tell Cloud??... And everyone knew that if Cloud?? found out, the rest of the clan would soon know...
He jumped quickly to his feet. "Er, y-yeah, let's go." He fell into step with his brother, hoping Sunstreak might walk on his other side...
