"Wait, you two," Bearheart growled softly, her eyes down on her paws as she considered their situation. For a long moment, she said nothing, merely thinking. Finally, though, she looked up. "Let's not be hasty. Think that we do not know these cats' intentions whatsoever. We must leave someone here to guard camp. All the same, we do not want to seem weak to them, in case they are more powerful than we are. I say Leopardfire and Seabreeze stay here and guard Horseplace. Instead, we will take Thorn with us," she flicked her tail towards the young cat, "to show that we do have younglings within our group. For now, Windrunner and Thorn shall run ahead to tell these cats we are coming." She flashed Icemask a sarcastic glance. "I know how old and slow you are, old tom, so Windrunner shall warn them of our slow coming. Snowstorm shall lead us in their direction. Are we agreed?"
Windrunner felt any anxiety relax. He felt relieved that everything was going to be taken care of by those older than him. In a brief gesture, he glanced skyward, silently thanking his ancestors for the wisdom of the Praisers. Still, he couldn't help but feel a bit scared, being the first to confront these strange new cats. What if they were mean and hostile? He told himself to be calm. After all, if they wanted to hurt us, they wouldn't have come into the park with the wind at their backs, letting us all know they're coming. That seemed sensible and Windrunner felt calmed once more.

Snowstorm felt her apprehension disappear. She wouldn't have to be the ones to bring it to these cats that there were other cats here. Then again, Windrunner would. She touched her tail to his hind leg, just barely, to show that he would be okay. However, it was difficult for her to imagine him with Thorn, confronting these cats. What if the cats were hostile? What if he got hurt? She refused to think about it, and refused to think about why she cared so much...had she cared about it this much before? She wasn't sure. She nodded consent to Bearheart's idea, and looked to see where Thorn was.

Thorn scowled. The other cats got to go instead of her because they were older. How fair was that? Her anger was soothed when Bearheart said she could go but the fire lit once more when she said Windrunner was coming with her. Why would she want some one else running beside her and breathing down her neck? He'd order her around and tell her to stay back and he would get to do everything. What was the point of coming with him then? She reluctantly stepped forward, controlling her scowl a little more.
"Are we going to stand around her and do nothing or are we leaving?" She asked bitterly, casting a glance at Windrunner.
She knew she could do this on her own. She didn't need some Ranger to hold her paw while confronting these cats. She shuffled her paws in impatience, now eager to go.

Solareclipse nodded at Bearheart’s idea, chiding himself silently at forgetting to leave able guards here at camp. In truth, he was just as apprehensive and excited as the young Rangers to meet these new cats. “A sound notion,” he said in agreement. “Windrunner, make sure you are very diplomatic and non-threatening. Be firm about our arrival and respond with a clear head. If you feel in danger, leave at once,” he told him, wanting to make sure they didn’t lose a valued Ranger in a conflict because of a couple of hot-heads. He threw a sharp look at Thorn. “That goes for you to, no fights, no taunts, no threats. Wait until we get there,” he added before turning back to the Praisers. He didn’t like throwing his cats into unknown situations which made him want to make sure that the messengers understood and kept out of harm’s way.

"Hmph." Was the only thing Thorn said before she muttered something unintelligble. Of course Windrunner would be the only one to say anything. Thorn knew exactly how it would go. She played the scene over and over again in her mind to pass the time. They'd go down to the hill where the cats were spotted. Before they came out and approached the cats Windrunner would say "Let me do all the talking". Or something along those lines. If he didn't have to show that there were younger cats he would've probably said "Stay here". She kept her eyes on Windrunner, waiting for the tom to look ready to leave. The young listener was already standing, her tail swishing.

Windrunner nodded slowly to Solareclipse, bracing himself for his first big task as a Ranger. Despite her age, he felt glad Thorn would be with him. He didn't know if he would have been able to do this alone.
Before they left, though... He leaned down and gave Snowstorm a small lick on the ear, whispering, "Be careful." Without waiting for a reply, the tall tabby nodded to Thorn and turned to dart from the camp.
))I'm gonna start a new thread for this, 'kay? You guys can still do a little debating or whatever here... Or keep this open for Leopardfire and Seabreeze. Sound good?((

Snowstorm watched the resentment flit across Thorn's face, and was contemplating why the young cat would feel so, when Windrunner bent down and licked her ear, warning her to be wary. She nodded to him as he left, wishing that he had waited for her to give the return message to him, but he had left too quickly.
She watched him leave, turned back to the Praisers, politely waiting for them to signal that they were ready to leave. Her petite form was taut with anxiety and energy, while her pretty pelt ruffled briefly in the wind. Her eyes were sparkling, with a mix of apprehension and adrenaline, and her paws shifted restlessly to be moving, but only a little. She would wait all day for her Praisers if she had to, no matter how badly she wanted to get moving, to catch up with Windrunner, to meet these new cats, to take her mind off of what dire consequences could happen...
))Sounds good to me. ^^(([/blockquote][/size]
