Sorrelkit gave her sister a frustrated glance, then dove back to her side. Sitting down, she looked at Bearkit, tilting her head. Without knowing the other two's conversation, she drove into the middle of it. "His eyes are like ours!" she mewed, excitedly, looking at Dreamkit.

Ashenpaw smiled. "Yes, a story is a fine idea," she agreed with Treekit. She looked across the clearing to see Ravenflight stalk away, and her ear twitched. "Apparently Redstorm isn't doing as well as he would have hoped," she murmured, flicking her tail to the black tom. She sighed. "I don't know how he's doing. I don't know him well..." But then again, what cat did she know well? Except for Eclipsedkit, she kept herself eclipsed from nearly all of the other Clan cats... Darkrain seemed to be a great cat, though, and she knew she was finding a friend in her, which she valued greatly. She looked at Treekit with a warmer smile, one that held understanding and gentleness. "It's okay to not want to play those games," she mewed to console the young cat. "You'll be fine with just being here with us."
Goldenkit looked over to Dovekit and padded over excitedly. "Dovekit!" she mewed. "C'mon, you can play a game with us...or we can do something else...but you just look awfully lonely." She stared at the kit for a moment, head tilted, her tortoiseshell pelt glinting slightly in the sunlight.
Eclipsedkit watched Goldenkit leave with a frown. What type of play was this? LionClan was abandoning her! She marched over to the edge of the clearing, totally forgetting her game, and plopped down with a humph.
Her eyes traced the treetops' outline. They stopped every once in a while to stare at something that she hadn't seen at her old home--which was quite a bit, considering she was only a kit--and sighed. "I wanna be an apprentice," she sighed. "Then I could go help hunt and fight and do..do...warrior stuff!" She grinned at the prospect of being this grand warrior, this warrior that she believed she could be. A long shot for such a little cat, but little cats can dream, too, can't they?

Dovekit looked at Goldenkit, shaking his head, his small smile still plastered to his face. His eyes were filled with thought. "No, that's alright," he murmured. "You play with Eclipsedkit. She's looking irritated with your sudden leaving." The soft, gray tom flicked his tail towards the other she-cat, watching her sit and survey the surroundings in her own form of silence. The kit reminded him of his younger years, made him remember how curious he was when he watched such new things around him. This intreged him as he watched her, tilting his head ever so slightly. "Actually, it really depends on the game you want to play," he mewed, looking back at Goldenkit, his mind changed. "I don't really enjoy rough-housing all that much, but games that make me think are fun."

"Nuh-uh!" Dreamkit cried, clicking her teeth annoyedly at her sister. "His eyes are like mine! Your eyes work just fine." She held her tail high as if bad eye-sight was a thing to be proud of. "Bearkit and I are gonna be special warriors! But you'll just be normal."
The tiny she-kit shot Bearkit a proud look. "Isn't that right, Bearkit?"
A coarse laugh stopped Dreamkit from continuing. "Special is another word for 'bad.'" Cometkit smirked at her brother and the younger she-kit. "Sorrelkit and I will be powerful hunters and respected fighters, while the two of you will be burdens to your mentors!"
Despite the fact that she was four moons old, Cometkit didn't really comprehend how heartbreaking and rude her words were. Not knowing, she went on: "You two will probably end up with mentors like that blind CherryClanner, Rowanclaw." She drew herself up tall. "But Sorrelkit and I will have strong mentors like Rainwhisker or Chasmstride."
"I'm sure he'll settle in eventually," the old queen purred with a small laugh. She alternated quickly between two conversations: one with the young she-cats and one with her mate. "This story I'm going to tell you is wonderful, if you can-- The kits are all here, Cheetahthorn. My sister, Sorrelsky, always planned on telling this one to her kits someday. Prey would be nice, y'know dear. Unfortunately, I'm sure you've heard how that turned out for her. Now, the story starts with a cat named-- Great StarClan! Where's Waterkit?" Darkrain looked up at the golden tom. "Could you please locate your daughter? And, while your at it, tell Dreamkit to be nice to her sister and Bearkit, because StarClan knows she's probably mouthing off again."
As if she hadn't paused, the old she-cat looked back to Ashenpaw and Treekit. "The cat's name was Driftwood. She was really a TealClanner, but everyone changes that part to fit their own clan. Now, Driftwood grew up a normal cat and always felt a powerful sense of loyalty to her clan, as all good warriors should." She paused, glancing up at Cheetahthorn to see if he was looking for her third daughter yet.
His tufted ear twitched with his deep dream. Watching him, it would probably be hard to guess whether Wolfkit's dream was good or bad, but it was most likely bad because he kept whimpering in apparent pain. For a long moment he lay there, not responding to Sunpaw's call. Rather suddenly, though, he sat up with a cry, his long tabby fur standing almost on end. At first he didn't recognise his clanmate at all and sat there, cowering away from her.

Cheetahthorn smiled at Darkrain's conversation, listening as she bounced between the cats she was speaking to. When she mentioned Waterkit, his smile faded a little and he looked behind him. "She was with me for a long while. I must not have noticed when she left. I'll go find her, Darkrain, don't worry. And I'll bring you something to eat, as well." The gold and black cat wandered off, sniffing around for his daughter.
Sorrelkit glared at her sister. She opened her mouth to respond when Comitkit started throwing insults. "Hey, be nice!" she yelled, shooting her angry look at Comitkit. "We were only talking about eye color! I don't want to be a strong warrior like you if you're going to be mean!" She hissed, standing up and facing the other kit. "Go away!" she yowled.

Bearkit flinched slightly at Cometkit’s words, but didn’t shown any other signs of bitterness or anger. He glanced gratefully at Sorrelkit for standing up for him and Dreamkit, and he looked back at his sister with a trace of pity in his green eyes. “Maybe, but being a warrior is more about hunting and fighting. You may look like Dad, but he was ten times the warrior you will ever be,” he commented. “You won’t get any respect with your way with words, that’s for sure,” he added dryly, curling his tail around his paws. He could have run to his mother and no doubt, she would have put a stop to this, but he was used to this sort of thing. Besides, then he would have never gotten a chance to reprimand Cometkit and StarClan knows she needed it.
Sunpaw jumped back in surprise, drawing in a deep breath as Wolfkit cowered, maybe not even all the way awake yet. Not exactly sure how to approach the situation, Sunpaw stayed where she was and let him calm down. “It’s ok Wolfkit, it’s just me, Sunpaw, remember?” she asked, trying to spark his memory. “Don’t worry, you probably just had a bad dream or something, you’re safe here.”

Goldenkit was confused for a moment. She stared at Dovekit, unsure about what games there were besides ones that you could play with a moss ball, or that you could pretend that you were attacking a cat from a different Clan, or one where you just pretended that you were a warrior from one of the big cat Clans. "Um..." She looked around the clearing. "Well...what types of games would you have in mind, then?"
Ashenpaw let out a mrrow of laughter as Eclipsedkit situated herself beside the apprentice. The tabby she-cat turned her gaze back to Darkrain and back and forth between the queen and Cheetahthorn. Her smile faltered slightly as she wondered what it would be like to be that close to another cat.

Arcticwind had, for a while, been wandering about, murmuring to random cats, "Is this your's?" through the scruff of the cheetah-spotted she-kit. A very long while. He had originally intended on seeing if this kit's mother was a single she-cat, but he wondered now if it was worth it. And the kit struggling in his tiring jaws had not been helping the process. He had to admit, he was a little disappointed, past all of his relief, when he saw a tom that looked just like this kit. So his efforts were in vain... With a heavy sigh, he turned toward Cheetahthorn and headed over. "Is this your's?" he asked, as he had many times before.
"Daddy, daddy, daddy!" Waterkit squeaked, struggling even more in Arcticwind's grip. She finally broke free, hitting the ground running. She curved around Cheetahthorn's front legs affectionately a low purr rumbling in her throat. "Daddy, you wandered off! I hafta keep a better eye on you, don' I?" she mewed, smiling up at her father.
Arcticwind watched the scene with a raised brow, eyeing the two of them. "I guess so," he muttered. His interest had become so faint, he almost seemed boring. Almost... "Well, anyway, she's safe now, right?" he meowed suddenly. His eyes had wandered away from the father and daughter. He had other business to attend to...

Cometkit took a step back, stumbling over her own paws. Her brown eyes widened, at first in shock and dismay. Bearkit, scardy little Bearkit was telling her she was disrespectful? Even tiny Sorrelkit yelled at her! She blinked slowly, taking in all three pairs of eyes staring deeply at her: Dreamkit and Sorrelkit's with deep anger and maybe even hatred, but Bearkit's was much worse. He looked at her with pity.
He looked at her as if she were the disabled one; as if she were the one that scarcely left her mother's side. Seeing him speak so grown-up and down to her(or so it seemed in her eyes) stung worse than any insult. She barely managed to get to her feet before turning about and swiftly fleeing.
Dreamkit was so surprised, she sat in silence for a moment following Cometkit's departure. "Woah, Bearkit, that was amazing!" she exclaimed, staring at him with awe. "I didn't think that'd work, but she just ran away like a mouse!" A laugh tumbled from her, her mis-matched eyes shining.
"You'll be a special warrior, too, Sorrelkit," Dreamkit said, looking sideways at her sister with a look of joy and pride. She was thrilled to see her sister stand up for her, especially after Dreamkit had just alienated her. The young she-kit let out a purr of happiness.
Darkrain continued, her eyes looking between the young she-cats and the tom who'd just returned her daughter. "Driftwood's life took a change out of the ordinary when her leader accepted a loner tom into their clan. His name became Rookstep, and he was very much of an outsider at first in the clan. Many cats talked badly of him, thinking badly of him and his origins outside the clan. Driftwood, though, took pity on him. She shared her prey with him and offered to hunt together. She found he wasn't so bad as everyone said. He was really just shy, but, underneath, he was fun, outgoing, and funny. Despite the wishes of her other clanmates, Driftwood soon found herself falling in love with Rookstep."
Darkrain wasn't normally one for romance stories, but this one she liked. The idea of finding someone beautiful and lovely underneath a hard exterior was one that pleased her. After all, she was very similar...
Smiling down at Treekit, the old queen opened her mouth to continue, showing her story was not yet finished.
Slowly, Wolfkit's hackles fell and he forced himself to relax. As cat usually do, he leaned down to lick his chest briefly before speaking to Sunpaw. "S-sorry, I didn't see it was you..." He looked away, feeling embarassed. First, the incedent with Treekit, now this... Now he wasn't sure what to say, so he continued staring down at his paws, hoping his fur wasn't full of pine needles...

Bearkit watched his sister’s departure, his shoulders drooping slightly. He hadn’t meant for her to get so upset, just to tell her off so that she would stop teasing him. Still, someone had to be able to stand up to her and it was hard for his mother, especially with Cometkit looking so much like their father. He knew his mother tried hard to raise them right, but it was almost like she was afraid to lose their love and usually never reprimanded them.
He smiled for the first time with Dreamkit’s words, happy that he had found friends who stood up for him and didn’t mind that he couldn’t play as well as the others. “Thanks, Cometkit doesn’t think about what she says, but she’s not a bad cat. She will come around and I bet she will be a really good friend and warrior,” he commented confidently. Bearkit would never tell her, but he looked up to his sister a great deal and desired her approval, maybe even more then his mother’s.
Sunpaw attempted to laugh it off, not wanting to make Wolfkit more embarrassed then he already was. “It’s ok, that must have been some dream you were having,” she commented, shaking the dust off her ginger pelt that has resulted in her sudden jump. “Don’t worry about it, I’m sorry I surprised you,” she added, her brown eyes sincerely sorry that she had awoken him.

Ashenpaw was hooked on Darkrain's story, but Eclipsedkit could hardly keep her mind out of the clouds. She sighed, frustrated, and sprang to her paws. She looked around wildly, surveying the other cats that were around her. She caught a glance at the newest kit and warrior and her eyes lit up. She padded over to the warrior and kit happily, practically bouncing. "Hiya!" she mewed to Articwind. "Who're you?" She stared up at him curiously, head tilted slightly. The little tabby didn't know much about not talking to cats she didn't hardly know, especially just after she had been thrown in with so many during the Journey. Besides, if he wasn't interesting, she was sure that the new kit would be.

Treekit smiled at Ashenpaw's consolation, her heart warmed. She turned her attention back to Darkrain, hanging on the she-cat's every word. She absolutely loved love stories. They give her hope that her life can turn out as great as the cats in the story. She couldn't help but tune into the kit's discussion. How incredibly rude of them! Shouldn't someone be scolding them about this? She remembered hearing about Rowanclaw. Some cats discussed if he should have became a warrior because he was mute. Others who had met him said that he was polite in every way he could be. Eye color certainly didn't determine how great a warrior you were. For a few moments she decided that she wouldn't let her kits say things like that. She shook her head at the silly thought. She wasn't even an apprentice and she was thinking of having kits herself!
She looked back at Darkrain, ready to hear the rest of the story. Treekit wished she could become a warrior as great as she was.

"Have you ever just sat and watched the clouds?" Dovekit mewed, looking upward. "Watched to see what shapes you can turn into things? It's really fun; I've gotten good at it over the moons. It's sort of like imagination mixed with 'what do you see?'. That's a game I learned when I was younger." The gray tom looked at Goldenkit with a smile. Maybe she would enjoy this game too? Maybe he would have a friend, or even someone just to like.
Cheetahthorn looked down as is daughter wove around his legs. "My goodness," he purred, smiling at her. "I didn't mean to worry you! I will just have to watch where you go next time so that I can keep with you and not get lost." He closed his eyes, he was so happy and purring so hard. His daughter was the funniest little kit there ever was and she made him love her even more when she was with him. He hated her getting out of his sight.
Sorrelkit shook her head, wildly. "I won't be a special apprentice because I'm not special," she meowed, trying to hide her saddness at not being the same as her sister. "Not like you and Bearkit. You will be special warriors when you grow up, but I'll only be normal. I doubt I'll even have a chance at becoming deputy when I grow up." Tears welled in her eyes the more she thought about it, putting herself down just to make her sister feel better about her disability. She'd gone just a little too far on herself. With a wail, she started crying.[/color]
